Why does America insist on remaking foreign films?

The original Swedish version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is sooooo much better than the remake. I was thoroughly confused after watching the remake and haven’t been able to stop watching the Swedish trilogy since. We need to realize that foreign cultures are much different than ours and no matter how awesome we make the cinematography look it just feels wrong.

On another note the American Skins was horrid.
